This Has Been a Strange Year for Me
Good Things
In the professional realm, this year has brought great growth. My technical knowledge expanded significantly:
- Acquired valuable knowledge working with Juan and the membrane.io team
- Dove deep into VSCode's source code, learning its architecture and operation
- Worked with egui for membrane's UI
- Kept up with the latest AI technologies, including LLMs, Agents and Claude's
- Latest Next.js
Personal Evolution
This year marked important personal growth:
- Significantly improved relationships with others
- Dedicated more time and support to family
- Shared valuable moments with my mother and brother
- Developed a healthier relationship with material things:
- Learning to buy only what's necessary
- Consciously evaluating things' real value before purchasing
Difficult Moments
This year has also brought significant challenges:
Losing my grandfather was one of the hardest blows. He was an extraordinary man, an avid reader who always prioritized my education above everything. His sudden death from heat exhaustion left a void, but his legacy lives in my memory. His generosity was immense - often going without food to ensure my university transportation was covered.
The political events in Venezuela proved difficult to process. The electoral fraud devastated hopes for change in the country.
The last months brought intense existential anxiety, an unexpected and profound challenge. For the first time, thoughts about mortality and life's purpose began haunting daily life. These reflections would emerge unexpectedly - during quiet moments, in the middle of work, or late at night. Sleep became elusive as questions about existence and the finite nature of life filled each evening. The realization that our time is limited triggered deep contemplation about the purpose and meaning of life While unsettling, these thoughts also brought a new perspective on appreciating present moments and relationships more deeply.
Looking to the Future
Despite the challenges, new hopes and goals emerge:
- Preparing for life's biggest adventure: becoming a father
- Continuing to deepen knowledge in Rust and Artificial Intelligence
- Working toward English fluency
- Finding more joy in each moment
- Returning to Venezuela (thank you for everything, Colombia)
- Reconnecting with human essence through nature, family, and food
